Story
Many of you know that Ben and Bobby were diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD). This is an immune deficiency, simply their white blood cells don’t work properly. The only cure is a bone marrow transplant (BMT). Bob begins his bone marrow transplant journey in January. He will spend at least 8 weeks in hospital and then needs to be isolated for a further 4 months, so a long road ahead.
We want to raise awareness of this disorder. The Society helps to fund research into the disorder. It is a huge support to families such as ours. Our CNS at Great Ormond Street Hospital is funded by the Society. Our nurse has been a life line to me for the last 3 years. I want to give a little back and help the Society to continue to provide support for other CGD families.
