Our Story:
On April 11th 2022 our lives changed forever.
My beautiful, kind, funny and strong husband had a devastating heart attack/cardiac arrest at home after playing a game of football. Paramedics arrived and worked on Lee for 45 minutes, amazingly managing to keep him alive, although, sadly Lee had gone without Oxygen for 20 minutes, meaning a greater risk of brain injury.
Lee was airlifted to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, where he received life saving treatment. Two stents were put into a blocked valve and he was hooked up to every machine imaginable.
For over 2 weeks Lee lay in a coma and his consultants told us to prepare for the worst, due to his brain injury he wasn't waking up, but we refused to give up.
Lee was fighting hard and we could see it, and by the 28th April they finally removed his ventilator and he begun breathing on his own. Lee was then moved to Canterbury Hospital to receive Neurology specialist care where he improved greatly and on the 19th July he was moved to his final Hospital the RHN where he spent a further 4 months.
The care Lee received there has been simply amazing, he truly wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for their dedication, knowledge and compassion, which is why I wanted them as my chosen charity.
Due to his Brain Apraxia Lee has had to re-learn how to walk, feed himself, and most importantly communicate, he has and will continue to experience memory problems. and life as he knew it won't be the same for some time. It's been a huge, long struggle for him, but his determination and courage continue to astound me every day, as he makes fantastic progress - I couldn't be prouder of him and it was a very happy day when he finally came home on November 8th.
So, on May 12th I have decided to do something I've always wanted to do, but never actually had the guts to....A Skydive!
So If you can give anything for this amazing hospital, we would be forever grateful, just as we are to the RHN.
Everything raised will go directly to the Hospital, the dive itself will be coming out of my own pocket and not the sponsorship money.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and moreover, thank you for donating.
