Story
The Blue Tits are at it again!! This year we are DOUBLING the distance of an our swim as part of The Great North Swim on 8th June 2024 and swimming ONE MILE in Lake Windermere.
Last year our amazing team took on the challenge for the first time and overcame physical and mental challenges to achieve our goal. Not only did we ALL finish the swim together but (much to the others swimmers annoyance) we swam and sung most of the way round. We also achieved something we never thought possible when we started out and raised £3000 for Dementia Forward.
This year we will pull those wetsuits on again and get training to push ourselves even further. We have chosen another charity close to all our hearts and local community.
St Leonard’s Hospice in York has been providing care and support for our local community for 38 years.
It’s their mission to provide the highest standard of care and support to those living with life limiting illnesses, and to the people they care about, to enrich their lives, and to contribute to the ongoing development of end of life care.
There have been plenty of challenges along the way, from meeting funding requirements, to developing new ways to care and support terminally ill people, those with life limiting conditions, and their families and carers.
Meeting the challenges set by the next 38 years depends on your fundraising, legacies and your donations. So please contribute if you can, and help write the next chapter in St Leonard’s story.
