Story
When a Guide Dog retires aged 11, the Guide Dog owner may have to wait up to 2 years for a new Guide Dog. In that time, their lives often grind to a halt. It seems that two of the major problems resulting in this long wait are a lack of puppies especially for Guide Dogs and secondly, there is a need for more Guide Dog mobility officers to be trained.
Matching a Guide Dog to a visually impaired person is a very complicated procedure but with the lack of puppies and a lack of training mobility officers, this procedure is bound to take much longer. We are trying to raise as much money as we can to plug this gap and enable the Guide Dog Association to have more puppies and more mobility officers.
