Story
Having initially caught the running bug during the pandemic, I have gradually been increasing my milage over the past few years and now feel the time is right to complete a long held-personal ambition of running a marathon.
I will be raising money for and running the Leeds Marathon on behalf of the charity Leeds Mind, with whom I have recently taken up a Board Trustee & Treasurer position. Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing, and provides help and support to anyone who needs it in and around Leeds.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health difficulty of some kind each year in the UK, a statistic which demonstrates the urgent need for organisations such as Leeds Mind. Leeds Mind is dedicated to providing frontline support for those battling conditions such as depression and anxiety, or things which can impact mental wellbeing such as stress, bereavement and isolation.
Having personally experienced mental health challenges, as well as seen the impact of mental health on those close to me, I am proud to represent and be volunteering for Leeds Mind.
The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on Sunday 12th May 2024 will see 7,777 participants take on a route through Leeds that starts and finishes at Headingley Stadium. Taking in some of Leeds most scenic countryside and outer suburbs, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon will be a fitting tribute to the city that launched Rob's career and which he calls home.
Thank you very much in advance for all donations received for this great cause.
Thanks!
