Fundraising for UK Deaf Sport
My father has been deaf since birth, so deafness is something that has directly affected my family and I. With charities supporting events like DeaflympicsGB, we as a community are able to raise awareness, and also celebrate & promote the achievements of all people with disabilities across the world. This is very important, as it will help those who are socially isolated from society. It commonly happens with deaf people in verbal conversations and other difficulties in day-to-day life, which many of us, take for granted.
The Summer Deaflympics 2025 will be held in Tokyo, Japan in November 2025 where they aim to win GB Deaflympics medals. The Deaflympics were first held in 1924. It is the second oldest multi sports event in the world and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) There is a widely held misconception that deaf people compete in the Paralympics, but they don’t unless they have another recognised impairment. Elite deaf athletes and the DeaflympicsGB Team currently receives no funding from the UK Government. Zero – not a single penny.
Your generous donations will directly support and fund the DeaflympicsGB team on their journey to Tokyo for the Summer Deaflympics in 2025. For more information, please visit: https://ukdeafsport.org.uk/deaflympicsgb/DeaflympicsGB - UK Deaf Sport
