Story
Blake Morgan Southampton office is delighted to announce that Ben Pavitt’s Legacy of Love Fund (with Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group) has been chosen as our 2024 charity partner.
Ben was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s T- cell lymphoblastic lymphoma on the 1st July 2020. He was immediately put on an intensive treatment plan, which included various chemotherapy drugs.
Whilst these drugs are effective at killing cancer cells, they also damage any fast growing healthy cells in the body, including blood cells, skin cells and cells in your stomach. This can cause a range of life altering side effects, including, ironically even a higher risk of developing other cancers in later life.
Following a relapse in June 2021, Ben sadly passed away on the 8th October 2021, aged 16.
Many children, like Ben was, are still reliant on toxic chemotherapy drugs for treatment, some of these drugs were developed as far back as the 60s and haven’t changed much since then. Childhood cancers are biologically different to adult cancers and therefore, dedicated research into causes and treatments is needed.
Blake Morgan Southampton office is working with Ben Pavitt’s Legacy of Love Fund & CCLG, to fund research into personalised and targeted treatments aimed specifically for children, and young people.
Thank you so much for your support.
