We’re looking for a special name for our very special boy!

We were delighted to announce the safe arrival of our first critically endangered Bornean orangutan baby for more than two decades in June and now he needs a name.

Keepers have been deliberating about what we should call him and, after lots of discussion, have decided to hand the responsibility to our amazing supporters (that’s you!)

Simply make a small donation (we suggest a minimum of £2, but it is up to you) to the Orangutan Foundation on this page and tell us your suggestion in the message.

The Orangutan Foundation works tirelessly to save critically endangered orangutans by protecting their habitats, working with local communities and promoting research and education.

Our keepers will review all the valid suggestions before making the final decision which will be announced later this month.

Not only will the winner have the privilege of naming the baby, but they will also receive a free family ticket to come along and see him.

Valid entries must include a donation. The competition will close on Sunday 17th September 2023 and all valid entries will be sent to our keepers to decide the name and this will be announced shortly after. The winner will be informed by email when we will also arrange delivery of their family ticket.

Blackpool Zoo reserves the right to cancel, amend, terminate or temporarily suspend this competition in the event of any unforeseen circumstances or technical reason outside its reasonable control, with no liability to any entrants or third parties.

No cash alternatives or substitutions, the prize is not transferable, non-refundable and no change will be given.
