Story
On Friday 4 October our team of BJSSers: Donna Tosney, Jo Fordham, Rich McIntyre, George Grainger, Aiden Vaines, Paul Ockwell, Sam Ockwell, Leah Unsworth-Hughes, Tim Pepper, and Doug Whincup are taking on the challenge of Boycott your Bed, sleeping out to support vulnerable children across the UK and raising vital funds for Action for Children.
As part of our fundraising efforts for the Boycott your Bed campaign, a group of intrepid adventurers from BJSS are also undertaking the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge - on 14th September we'll be taking on the 40km walk to climb Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in one long day, which will see each of us reach a step count of around 50,000 over the marathon-length hike. Please support us for this worthy cause, and watch this space for updates and images of our achievement! To give a sense of scale of this challenging walk, we've added a photo that captures all three peaks in one image, with Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent from left to right.
4.3 million children now live in poverty in the UK. That’s 30% of all children. It’s easy to think poverty happens elsewhere. But it’s affecting the child in the park. Next door. The children whose names you know.
With our help, Action for Children could give a child warm clothes, hot meals and a proper bed. You could help us to be there, with love and without judgement, in moments of crisis when children are living without the essentials.
Please support with raising vital funds and help more children have a safe and happy childhood. £50 could pay for new shoes for two children, £60 could help pay for a family's household bills for a week, including gas and electricity, or £250 could pay for bedding and furnishings for 10 young people moving into care, to help make their room feel like their own.
