Story

In March 2019, we lost our dear friend James Bale, known as Dex, after he was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor in January. The cancer was too aggressive to be treated, and he spent his final days at Weston Hospicecare, receiving amazing care that brought comfort to him and his family during those tough weeks.

In memory of Dex and to raise vital funds, I ran my very first marathon, the Exeter Marathon, in 2019. Now, I am taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2025 to further support Weston Hospicecare, who continue to provide vital emotional, psychological, spiritual, and medical support which helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. However with only 20% of their funding coming from the NHS, they rely heavily on community support to raise the £5.5 million needed annually to continue their important work.

Your kind support will help ensure others receive the same compassionate care that meant so much to Dex and his loved ones. Thank you for reading this story and my sincere thanks for any donations you can make, big or small they will all be warmly received and will help massively!

Thank you

Bjorn
