Story

❗️ Storm Darragh Update ❗️

Today is our 3rd day without power. We managed to log a problem finally on Sunday evening at 11pm. We’re still waiting for someone to come and assess our power cables which have unfortunately been damaged from a falling tree. We estimate we will remain without power for some time.

Anyone trying to contact us, please continue to bear with us. If urgent, please message us through Facebook or email to birchhilldogrescue@gmail.com which we can retrieve occasionally on our phone, signal permitting. Any emails to our new address or applications we are unfortunately not able to view at the moment. Please note, our kennel block is currently full so we are not able to take in any further dogs at the moment.

We are running the generator that was kindly loaned to us to heat our kennel block. It cannot power the lights but yesterday we managed to rig some lighting up to get us by in the kennels at least.

Our orchard area has been out of bounds since Saturday as we have 2 panels down and a broken post. We’re hoping the panels are still useable but we haven’t been able to power up the tools to remove the fallen tree and properly assess the damage as yet.

The house / office has no power and our laundry room is full of blankets, towels and bedding that we cannot wash.

We have had some deliveries and messages about our Christmas Shoe Box Appeal and we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has sent something to us and sorry we haven’t been able to post thank you’s and more videos recently but we’ve been trying to get by as best we can and we’ve had one problem after another to sort out so unfortunately Christmas is on hold for the moment until we are back up and running properly. :(

💙💙 Appeal 💙💙

If anyone has a generator (2kva or above) that we could borrow to power our house / office we’d be so grateful.

It won’t be long until we have run out of clean blankets so if anyone has any old blankets they’d like to donate, our dogs would very much welcome them. We are ok for towels and duvets, it’s just blankets we are really getting through at the moment as we can’t currently wash them.

We have tried to order a new fencing post as we know we definitely need to replace that at least, but they are out of stock everywhere we look so if anyone knows of where we can get one please get in touch as we’d like to get our orchard secure again for our dogs ASAP.

Lastly, we are heading out daily to buy petrol to keep the 1 generator that we currently have going, which is quite costly so if anyone would be so kind as to donate a little towards that, that would help us out greatly! 🙏 You can donate through the button or the link below.

Any further donations we will put towards the damages we need to repair and we’d also like to start a pot for a more powerful generator of our own should we have this problem again in the future so we want to try and start the ball rolling so we can eventually get something in place ready to project us in future storms.

Thank you, as always. 💙
