Story
Starting on the afternoon of 3rd April I will run over 100 miles non-stop, attempting to complete "The ring of cheshire" finishing before the final bell of school on friday the 4th! Over 100 miles in 24hrs!
I am running this gruelling challenge to raise funds to repair the school playground which has sadly been taken out of use by storm damage and too much fun; leaving the children without their favourite play area. Unfortunately the repairs come at a substantial cost but with your financial support the children can have the play area they deserve. We all know how important play and outdoor learning is for child development not to mention being ready to sit back in the classroom!
If we exceed the fund raising to repair the fixed playground equipement any addition funds will be used to purchase outdoor play resources to make the most of the beautiful space the school is blessed with.
Please donate whatever you are able, everyones circumstances are different but all donations are appreciated by myself, the PTA, School and most importantly the children of Bosley St Mary's primary school.
The School- Bosley St Mary's is a small school at the heart of Bosley Village, Cheshire. Our small school educates 64 children. Bosley School Parent Teachers Association fundraises to further enrich the education and lives of our young people by funding additional resources, days out and events.
The route- The ring route is 97 miles but I will be starting and finishing at the school playground, as this is what the challenge is for, this will push my total mileage up to roughly 102 miles. The route is a well recognised canal boating route, which I will follow using the canal paths whereever possible. In somewhat ironic form a section of the route has collapsed in the winter storms so I will have to take a diversion around the bridgewater collapse. For more information on the route see- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheshire_Ring
The runner- I am far from an elite runner so this is going to be a huge challenge! I have completed various ultra marathon events and personal challenges but have not run over 100 miles before. I attempted this same route last year stopping at 70 miles, dehydrated from a hot summers day. This year with more experience and the hopes of the children to fuel me, I will complete the route.
