Story
Go Red for Heart Month is all about getting together with your community to raise money for lifesaving research. Whether it's losing a loved one to a cardiac arrest or coping with the devastating impact of heart failure, too many of us have felt the pain of heart and circulatory diseases. We’re urging the nation to help us save and improve more lives by Going Red this February. The amazing scientists we fund see first-hand how vital BHF funding is for powering lifesaving research into heart and circulatory diseases. In support of the BHF Go Red! fundraising challenge, a team of researchers from the BHF Oxford Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) are organising some exciting and enjoyable fundraising activities throughout February and March 2025. Events include (more being added):
Bake sales and coffee mornings (various dates throughout February): enjoy a selection of bakes, including heart-heathy options, while learning more about the BHF and their fantastic work to raise awareness about keeping heart healthy.
Walk from Blenheim to Oxford – Saturday 1st March 2025: join us on an 19 mile loop walk from Oxford City to Blenheim Palace and back. A fairly flat, easy to walk route, making it ideal for all ages and abilities. Every penny raised will help fund lifesaving research into heart & circulatory disease. Entry: £25 registration fee. Fundraising target: raise as much as you can, but aim for £500. Registration: email Jo Stevens jstevens@oxin.co.uk.
Film viewing evening - March 2025: a film viewing in celebration of International Women's Day.
An afternoon of Art and Music – March 2025: engage with curated art displays from Oxford scientists who re-imagine their data as thought-provoking visual pieces. Bid for exclusive ‘Meet the Scientist’ sessions with Oxford scientists over tea and coffee, hear the stories behind the art, and learn about their passion for research. Enjoy live musical performances from Oxford student ensembles, interspersed with stories of how the British Heart Foundation has made a difference to healthcare through the years. Why not purchase an art print to take home with you or as a thoughtful gift?
Cheese and Wine evening – Saturday 29th March 2025: enjoy a fantastic evening of paired wine and cheese-tasting hosted by experts in this culinary extravaganza.
Donations welcome!
If you can’t make any of these events, don’t worry you can still make a donation to support the charity’s life-saving work.
