Story
I am walking 5k, along with my younger sister, to support the Manchester Royal Infirmary after the amazing support they gave me after my car accident in 2018 - I was an inpatient for 3 months in both the ICU and ESTU (as it was back then), and I can't thank the staff there enough for how much they helped and supported me, through little things like regular chats, listening to me when I was down, and taking me off the ward in my wheelchair, all of which assisted greatly in my recovery. The staff always pushed me to do my best, even the physio staff (which I dreaded every morning!), but they helped me to walk again and I couldn't be more grateful for that. The days in and out of theatre were really made better by the ward staff, which is why I now want to give back. After all of this, I wanted a complete change of career and to work in the NHS myself and, as a result, have recently started this journey at Saint Mary's Hospital, within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. So, I thought this was the perfect chance to raise money for those who really took care of me and supported me greatly, at my worst. Me and my younger sister, Jasmine, will be taking part in the 5k walk, so please support us and help raise as much as we can for this amazing cause! This is something so close to my heart so any donation we would be extremely grateful for💙
* This autumn, the Charity team would like to welcome everyone to join in the fun at our family-friendly Lantern Walk in support of our family of 10 hospitals.
Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Heaton Park, walkers can choose from a 2k or 5k distance and there is an autism friendly start line available.
By supporting a particular hospital within our family, that is meaningful to you or your loved ones, you will be making a huge difference.
We look forward to seeing you there on the day. *
