Story
This one is for you Amelia Mae Waterhouse 💖
On Friday 30th June 2023 I’m doing a fundraising event at work where I’ll be getting my colleagues to cut 20” of my hair off 😳💇🏽♀️
For anyone that doesn’t know what Rett syndrome is Imagine being told your toddler you thought was healthy, but perhaps slow to progress, in fact had a rare and devastating disability that would leave them needing lifelong 24/7 care. Rett syndrome is an extremely rare neurological disorder that affects mainly girls. It's a genetic condition that affects brain development, resulting in severe mental and physical disability. Reverse Rett is a charity that funds research to find a cure for Rett Syndrome and any funds I raise will go towards supporting this vital research.
I'm extremely nervous the closer it gets to the date to be loosing more than half of my hair but I’m mostly excited to make a difference and raise awareness for these important causes. This one is one that is extremely close to my heart because my beautiful stepdaughter Millie was diagnosed with Rett 💔 Whilst it has been heartbreaking for me to see Millie suffer with this neurodevelopmental disorder the past few months I have been lucky enough to be part of her life I can only begin to imagine the pain that both of her amazing parents and their families have felt over the last 4 years of her diagnosis and the couple years prior to that too. I know there will be so many other families out there that have suffered with the pain of seeing their loved ones regress more and more over time too 😢
I may not be able to take it away from anyone that is suffering from this and I know cutting my hair won’t exactly save the world but I’m hoping I can raise some money to help support the research in reversing Rett and raise some further awareness 🤞🏽
If anyone could donate anything at all possible even just a pound towards this amazing charity to help me get towards my target whether it’s because you find this highly hilarious that I’m trusting my colleagues to cut my hair (none of which are experienced or qualified in cutting hair might I add) or feel terribly sorry for me with the bodge job cut I’m inevitably going to end up with, or whether it’s because you would love to support this amazing cause in aid of the bravest little girl I know that in spite of all her pain and suffering still manages to keep the biggest smile on her face and light up any room she is in it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance to any one that can donate, I know at least one little girl that will be eternally grateful for all of your support too 🥰♥️
On a side note just incase anyone is wondering … I will also be donating my hair to the The Little Princess Trust foundation so it can be used to create a wig for a poor child/young person that has lost theirs through cancer treatment or other conditions 💇🏽♀️
