Story
in the Spring of 1987, I joined the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and Tommy was my big brother. Tommy taught me what it meant to truly put others above yourself. Everyone else was worried about looking cool, Tommy just wanted to make a difference. Tommy was an exceptional student, leader and friend to many across campus. He served as President of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and was a member of Student Foundation and Order of Omega. Tommy maintained this level of campus leadership while working to pay his way through school.
But what I remember most are the canoe and camping trips at New Braunfels, talking about life. Tommy touched everyone he met, and you all a have story. This is just mine.
As you know, this month (May) Tommy was killed in a tragic car accident. I have no idea what Tommy would be doing right now, but I know the world would be better because he was doing it.
To honor his memory, we are creating a scholarship to be presented annually to an outstanding member of the Texas Mu chapter of Phi Delta Theta who exhibits the leadership characteristics, optimistic enthusiasm, integrity, and pride in the University that exemplified Tommy’s life. Thank you for listening, and for just taking a moment out of your busy day to remember Tommy.
