Story

SUEPA and Shrimpers Trust are working with this charity to honour our former captain Chris Barker who was sadly lost in January 2020. With the support of his family, we are asking the Shrimpers community to help us fundraise to place a bench for Barks at Roots Hall, not only to remember a great man, but also to be that vital support for someone who may really need it in the future.

Mental health problems affect around one in four people a year and can often lead to suicide. The causes of suicide are very complex and there's rarely one single cause, so many questions, so few answers. Legends on the Bench aim is to support people suffering from mental health issues and thus prevent loss of a life due to suicide by placing special benches offering 24 hour support to anyone in crisis.
