Story
The Taxi Charity for Military Veterans (formerly known as the London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled) was founded in Fulham in 1948.
The original purpose of the organisation was to help WWII veterans living in London and the home counties by providing entertainment, outings, and special equipment to those living in homes and hospitals.
Their goal is now simple: to work to the best of our ability for the benefit, comfort, and enjoyment of military veterans in all conflicts.
For their annual Worthing outing, we collect veterans from all over London, including Royal Hospital Chelsea and other veterans' homes, as well as those who live independently in their own homes.
In addition to their annual outing to Worthing, we offer war veterans regular trips, entertainment, and lunches, as well as occasional trips abroad.
Every year, they accompany veterans to the Netherlands, join the Dutch people in their liberation celebrations, and to Normandy for the D-Day commemorations.
They also organise an annual Christmas lunch for veterans at the end of each year, which is held at Millwall Football Club.
