Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page!

2024 marks a significant anniversary for myself and my family. It marks 20 years since my Dad, Kevin Tranter, passed away, aged 46 from cancer.

In Dad’s memory, I will complete 20 challenges this year - one for each year since his passing. The prospect of completing these challenges, which vary from walking, cycling, and running (including the Yorkshire Marathon!) is really quite daunting, but I am super excited and will give it my all to complete every single one in support of a cause that is very close to my heart.

I will be raising money in support of St Leonard’s Hospice where Dad was cared for in his final weeks. St Leonard’s Hospice provide palliative care and ongoing support to families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. They have been doing this for 38 years and are a really important part of the care community in York. I know they shared a lot of care and compassion for Dad and my family in the hardest of times, and do so for countless families every single day.

Throughout the year, I will be writing a series of blogs that will update my progress throughout the challenges and also to write a little about my experiences over the last 20 years of dealing with the loss of a loved one. You can read the first edition of the blog here:

If you wish to donate, no matter how small, then all the amounts raised will be going to a worthy cause, which will keep me motivated as I embark on my series of challenges!

Thank you!

Ben
