Story
I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon, my first ever half marathon, to raise money for an amazing charity, Samaritans. My last competitive sporting event was E team football so this is a bit of a step up.
Samaritans operate a mental health crisis helpline 24/7, 365 days a year as well as other free counselling services. Every ten seconds someone in need calls Samaritans for support that is often life saving.
I know from my own experience volunteering at a teenage emotional support helpline how critical these services are and how thankful callers are for the chance to talk.
A majority of people will experience mental health challenges at some point in their lives. I have been fortunate enough to access resources when I needed them and its crucial charities like Samaritans get the funding they need.
