Story
The Coast 2 Coast cyclists are back out on the road again this year on the 31st May 2024, cycling 225 miles from Dumfries back to Aberdeen through stunning Scottish countryside, all in aid of raising money for charity. Please give generously as all money raised will go directly to the charities, along with employee matching and don't forget to Gift Aid it if you are eligible.
Stella's Voice works to protect the world's vulnerable from human trafficking. Our overseas work is primarily based in Moldova (Europe's poorest country) where we house and look after dozens of teenagers who have come from orphanages or extremely vulnerable situations. We raise these young people as our own - providing for all their needs, helping to complete schooling, further education and/or vocational training, all the while teaching life skills with the aim being when they leave us they are able to hold down a job, know how to look after themselves, run a home, etc and go on to live productive, successful lives.
One of the ways that we help generate funds to do this is we run several large-scale reuse and recycling projects here in the UK. We divert hundreds of tonnes from landfill and collect on a daily basis from individuals, businesses and organisations - we collect most household goods including electricals, bikes and most other items. These items are either directly used to help others, or the proceeds generated from selling them go to help others. We collect surplus foods daily from several national supermarket chains and then redistribute the items to those in most need across our communities.
Our 'motto' is to be a source of help and hope at home and abroad. Calls for help and demand on our services has never been greater than it is at present - both locally and overseas. We are witnessing unprecedented hardship being experienced by so many at this time.
The more help we receive, the more people we can help. More help for us means, for example: less people going hungry, less people sleeping on floors as they now have a bed and mattress to sleep on, children don't go to school with unwashed clothes as they now have a working washing machine and enough clothes to change into and a way of keeping them clean.
