Story
On the 10th February 2023 our daughter Ada was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia at 5 years old. Since then, we have had countless journeys and stays to and from Sheffield Children’s for Ada’s treatment.
Myself and six others will be running 40 miles on 4th May 2024 from our home in East Lound (North Lincolnshire) to Sheffield Children’s Hospital in hopes to raise money for the incredible, PACT charity and the Haematology and Oncology ward (Ward 6).
Joining us is another Oncology parent, Zac, whose daughter Billie was also diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) on the 29th November 2022.
This challenge is inspired by the bravery, resilience and challenges both Ada and Billie face along with all the other warriors we have met on this journey.
We are kindly asking for donations in hope to raise money for PACT (Parents Association for Cancer and Tumours) and Ward 6. PACT is a charity on the ward, led by a group of incredible ladies who provide breakfast and lunch for parents, emotional support and memorable days out. They have a lodge and caravan near the coast and a home away from home nearby to the hospital for families to use. They also provide a treat trolley for the children which brings huge smiles to their faces.
PACT also support research projects and provides equipment for the ward, clinic and community nurses. A donation of this money will go towards Ward 6, more specifically the play specialist team who provide the children with toys, games, crafts and help each child understand their treatment by offering support, role play and books. The playroom is a lovely distraction for the children going through their treatment and the team are nothing short of fantastic. There is always a demand for new supplies in which we kindly ask for your help to support the amazing work they do.
We would like to thank you for your kindness and support.
