Story
I am taking part in the Great North run on 8 September 2024 to raise awareness and fundraise for the Miscarriage Association.
Our miscarriage will be etched in our heads forever. Waiting for our scan in the Early Pregnancy Unit felt like an eternity, clinging onto the tiniest bit of hope, knowing deep down that the amount of bleeding and cramping is likely to only mean one thing. We were given a few options and were advised to let the pregnancy pass naturally - the physical toll of this has been unbearable at times and every trip to the bathroom has felt like cruel reminder of our loss.
Nobody knows you’re pregnant in that first trimester and then you suddenly feel so alone navigating grief and immense sadness as everything comes crashing down.
Miscarriage doesn’t need to be a taboo subject. If you’re able to and want to talk about it, don’t be afraid. You’ll be amazed at how many people can help or share their own stories with you. Deciding to let our families and friends in and talking about our loss with them has helped us slowly process things and aid the metal recovery. We are so grateful for their love, support, understanding and kind words during this difficult week. It’s time to normalise something that is unfortunately so common.
The M.A is a national charity that offers support and information to anyone who is affected by miscarriage or ectopic or molar pregnancy. They work with health professionals to encourage good care; with workplaces to promote compassionate policies and with the media to raise public awareness of the facts and feelings of pregnancy loss.
Your sponsorship will help them to provide support and information to anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy. It will support their work with health professionals and researchers to improve care and information, and it will also help raise public awareness of the facts and feelings of pregnancy loss and of the Miscarriage Association as a source of help.
Please help me to support this amazing charity so they can continue to be there, for families like ours and for those who need them the most.
Thank you for your support.
