Royal Parks Half Marathon 2024 · 13 October 2024 ·

Run for #TeamCRIS in the 2024 Royal Parks Half Marathon, on Sunday 13 October. We will give you all the support you need! All funds raised will go to fund cutting-edge cancer research to improve the lives of adults and children living with cancer.

Story

This year, we experienced the profound loss of a dear friend, Harry, to a glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of brain cancer. Harry received his diagnosis in early 2023, and with it came the stark reality of a dramatically shortened life expectancy. However, he approached this challenge with the same resolve and determination that defined his many adventures.

Harry devoted himself to thoroughly researching his treatment options, exploring not only the conventional approaches of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy—protocols that have seen little advancement over the decades—but also investigating more cutting-edge therapies. He was fully aware that these innovative treatments came with no guarantees, but his courage and willingness to explore every avenue reflected the way he embraced life’s challenges.

CRIS are an international charity that funds research into pioneering new cancer treatments to give the best chance of survival to patients who do not respond to conventional treatments.

By stepping in where there are gaps in funding, as well as collaborating and building alliances worldwide with top research institutions, we support research scientists to speed up innovative therapies – bringing hope to thousands of cancer patients.

In addition, since its creation in 2010, the CRIS Cancer Foundation has been identifying talent amongst researchers worldwide. Through our grants and fellowships, we give scientists the funding and support they need throughout their research careers to make significant discoveries in cancer treatments.
