Story
Dubbed ‘The Daddy of them all’ by Cycling Weekly, ‘112 miles on the toughest route in Britain. We make no bones about the ride, it is hard, and will probably be the hardest one day ride you will ever complete. ‘
3500 metres of climbing and with 90 miles in in my legs I meet Hardknott Pass with a 30% gradient...
So I’ve been training since new year on and off with illness, work and kids and I was not sure I would be in good enough shape to complete it. Thus my late appeal, although I’m still not 100% confident!
At the end of 2021, my sister in law, Kate, died of Myeloma at only 48 years old having been diagnosed just 2 years earlier. She was very brave in the face of such a cruel illness, and very sadly she left behind her a loving family with young children who will miss her terribly.
If she had been diagnosed sooner, and if treatment had been available then she might have stood a better chance. But support through Myeloma UK gave her some solace in the face of adversity.
So please give generously!
And for my mates who get this far down in the schpiel, like with London to Paris for the RBL, I will match the whatever I raise, so if you need a additional incentive, I will be matching your donations personally….
This is from the Myeloma Uk website:
Myeloma UK relies on voluntary donations and fundraising. Your donation helps us make sure no-one has to face myeloma alone.
We give patients and their families all the information, help and support they need, exactly when they need it. We’re also one of the leading funders of myeloma research in the UK, and we have an ongoing commitment to investing in groundbreaking research.
