Story
Hello, me again.
Il try to keep this short and sweet....
Multiple sclerosis has affected me in more than a few ways in my life. Mom was diagnosed with primary progressive ms around age 30. I was 7 at the time. Without getting too emotional I have seen the decline of my mom and watched her suffer and struggle with the disease through her lifetime and unfortunately we lost her due to complications with her ms in April 2017.
Flash forward 30 years, now me and my sister have been recently diagnosed with ms. Not great news... Thankfully we are both still healthy and fighting fit to date. Maybe modern medicine and environmental factors have had a positive impact but unfortunately we both don't know what the road ahead will reveal to us.
I have decided to take on the mammoth task of cycling the UK end to end, south tip to north tip. I aim to do it in around 12 days, I can't be more specific as it might rain and I might have to cry in a bed and breakfast for a night. I'm not exactly sure why I've took on this challenge , maybe to prove to myself I'm still capable, maybe because I know time isn't promised, maybe because I need some adventure and to get outside my comfort zone again. Either way the date is marked and il be pedaling north come July 14th.
I have chosen to fundraise for the multiple sclerosis society because they are a charity that resonates with me and has helped to support many people with lives affected my MS. I know without the groundbreaking research into medicine and treatment I may not be where I am today so I am forever grateful not just for the work ms society does, but because we live in a society where I am able to receive treatment from the nhs which otherwise would have bankrupted me and possibly sent me to a street corner or only fans to claim the revenue.
I hate the part of hounding people for cash but even if you can just spare a fiver, about the price of a tiny block of cheese in this economy, it will be massively appreciated and will be going to a just cause.
Thankyou for reading this,
Ben.
