Fundraising for Sunflowers Suicide Support Charity
£1,500
raised of £2,300 target
We support families bereaved by suicide. to offer comfort during this difficult time

Story

On 9th November 2024, I shall be heading to Cambodia to trek through the jungle and spend a few nights camping on the way with several of my trekking buddies. We will be heading into the ancient temple of Angkor Wat and I will be raising funds for the Gloucestershire charity, Sunflowers Suicide Support 🌻.

Having personally been affected by suicide in my family at a young age, I could have done with the help of a charity such as Sunflowers, which is why I have chosen them for this fundraiser.

I am paying for the Cambodian trek myself, so that every single penny raised will go direct to Sunflowers Suicide Support.

I shall also be running other fundraising initiatives throughout 2024 in the run up to the trek.

Sunflowers Suicide Support is the www.GlosJobs.co.uk and www.glos.info Charity of the Year 2024 and we are proud to be fundraising for them. The first payment we have was £11,200 raised in the #SwimForSunflowers and #QuizForSunflowers.

Swim for Sunflowers raised £11,208.78

We took £11,208.78 to Sunflowers Suicide Support on Friday 26th April 2024. Thank you everyone for your amazing support!

Raising Funds for Sunflowers Suicide

At Sunflowers Suicide Support, we are deeply committed to our mission of offering hope, healing, and support to individuals and communities affected by suicide. Your generosity can play a crucial role in helping us achieve this mission and make a meaningful impact.

Target for the Trek

I have set my target at £2,300 because it is one of the levels that will find a very real level of help…

Suicide Prevention: £2,300

Enables us to deliver one ASIST suicide intervention training course to 28 people. Your contribution can help equip individuals with the skills to recognise signs of suicide and intervene effectively.

If I get any funds over the target, they will go towards the secondary target of…

Suicide Bereavement: £2,200

Funds one of our professionally led bereavement support groups for a year, creating a safe space for individuals to share their experiences and find solace in community.

Through the year, I will share more of my experiences of suicide and living with the aftermath, as well as details of events and fundraisers I am running.

Do drop me a line on office@glos.info if you want to know more.

Thank you for your support. 😊 🙏

About the charity

Sunflowers was created in memory of Pete Morris who died by suicide in 2016. His family developed the Charity to walk alongside others bereaved by suicide and to be a small ray of light in the darkness; offering others comfort and support that is so desperately needed at such a difficult time. Sunflowers endeavour to provide other families with practical and professional support so they do not feel overwhelmed and alone. This we hope will give a glimmer of hope for the future. Sunflowers also raise awareness around mental health and suicide both on social media and by networking locally and nationally. We deliver accredited training to the wider community and presentations sharing our story. We highlight that it is Okay to not be ‘Okay’ and the importance of talking and of course listening. We feel that everyone can play a small part in connecting with and helping others to feel less alone.
