I am taking part in the 26.2 mile London Marathon to raise money for The Sick Children’s Trust (SCT). They are the charity that give families with a seriously ill child in hospital a warm and comfortable place to stay when they need it most.

SCT was a lifeline for us as a family when our son Luca was born in June 2023. He was transferred from Chesterfield Neonatal Unit to Sheffield Children’s Neonatal Surgical Unit at 8 days old to have an emergency operation. He then spent a further 2 weeks in hospital and during this time SCT provided us with a home from home in Magnolia House, we had somewhere to eat and sleep minutes from the ward Luca was on. The friendly members of staff told us they were family friendly meaning our Daughter could also stay with with us, what a relief to find out we could be together as a family by Luca’s bedside.

It costs £40 a night to support a family within 1 of the 10 houses and the money raised will go towards supporting the thousands of families supported each year.
