Story
Walking alongside my best friend to raise money for this INCREDIBLE charity.
I'll always remember the phone call when I was 40 weeks pregnant. Our usual laughing until we cry or can't breath down the phone. Gemma said 'you need to know this, but I don't know how to tell you' (she always thinks about everyone else before herself, including my unborn baby at the time).
She said, 'I have cancer and I'm starting my chemo before a major operation to take out the cancer and wherever else it may be in me'.. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Going through her chemo, dancing whilst fixed up to Derek the drip, the surgery to remove 'Jimmy'... Never mind the sepsis, infections, the never ending trips to hospital, not getting to celebrate maybe the way she would have liked to her friends giving birth to their babies and her 30th birthday.... She went through all of this laughing and smiling throughout.
Our Gem is in remission but life will never be the same again. I could not be more proud of my incredible, kindhearted soul sister.
Doing this walk is only one way to thank the incredible teams at Clatterbridge for saving my best friends life, quite literally. With my physical ability being limited.. It's a massive challenge but so worth it.
If anyone can spare a bit of change, genuinely don't care how much, but just something to give thanks and raise money for this incredible cause... It would go towards helping to save other people's lives.
In memory of my auntie, nana Marj, my nan, both granddads, Pat. Thinking of my other family and friends also at this time who have been through/are going through the effects of cancer.
It's time to light up, and Glow Green!
