Story

As an amazing little sister, Maddie is keen to support Emilie and her team mates from Leeds Childrens transplant team. Any fundraising goes to Leeds Charitable hospital, ensuring the team get to attend the British Transplant games, which offers a valuable and much needed emotional support network for those and their families facing the hurdles of living with life after a receiving a transplanted organ.

Maddie has attended each transplant games since 2015, which she attended at just 8 weeks old. Maddie loves attending, has made great friends with many transplanted children and their siblings, and gains just as much from the weekend as Emilie does. Maddie is Emilie’s biggest supporter but is also a sensitive little soul. Having a sister who is regularly poorly, and often having a parent have to stay in hospital for nights at a time when Emilie is admitted, and the worry about why her sister is poorly, is something Maddie has grown up not knowing any different from. She is extremely proud of Emilie, who is currently suffering from a foot injury, and to show her support she is undertaking a number of physical challenges to raise money for the team.

On Saturday this weekend, she is taking part in her first Aquathon, where she and her friends will be swimming before undertaking a long distance run.

The following day, after playing in a netball match in the morning, Maddie will undertake the junior tough mudder, along with her netball team.

During the week she aims to do a number of runs that total of 10 miles, then next weekend, along with her family, we are aiming to complete a 20Km bike ride.

This is no easy task for a little girl who has just turned 8, but she one tough little cookie with a heart of gold, and I know she will do her absolute best to try to complete the challenges set.

If you are able to spare a small amount to sponsorship Madeleine, we would be extremely grateful. We know times are challenging so if you are unable to donate, financially, please could you consider spreading the word about organ donation, signing up to be an organ donor if you haven’t already and most importantly share your wishes about organ donation with your loved ones.

The support of our friends and family over these past ten years has been incredible, and for this we are truly grateful x
