There are over 167,000 deaths in the UK alone from cancer per year- that's around 460 per day. Everyone has a story or knows someone who has been personally affected by this disease; whether it's from a loved one, friend, or a personal one. As the rates are going up, the race to find a cure becomes more crucial.

The staff of Elite GSS are hiking to the peak of Snowdon to raise money for Cancer Research UK to help fight the battle against cancer and help support everyone affected by this cruel disease.

Our reason for this fundraiser is because, like many others, cancer has affected one of our own loved ones recently. More specifically, our Managing Director, Kris, and his family, who were recently affected by his wife's auntie passing away, as well as several close friends throughout the years.

In this recent case, the diagnosis was given just before Christmas, and unfortunately, she passed away just months later. We are raising money not only to raise awareness and help find a cure but also to keep the memory of Jill alive.

Each member of Elite GSS staff has known someone who has fought the illness, and each has a reason to join us in this fundraiser.

Snowdon is the highest peak in Wales and the highest in the British Isles south of the highlands of Scotland. It reaches 1,085 metres above sea level and takes between 4 to 7 hours to complete, covering 8.5 miles. From the summit of Snowdon, you can see Wales, England, Ireland, and the Isle of Man. It was also used as a training ground to help conquer Everest for the first people to summit it: Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, and the rest of the British Everest Expedition team.
