Story
As many of you already know, a few years ago we took part in a trek around Costa Rica raising money for Spinal Research and we’re back again this year with a trek around Chamonix and 3 Alpine peaks. We will be exploring secluded valleys and the beautiful mountain ranges of France, Italy, and Switzerland. We have three full days of trekking and will be covering peaks twice the height of Scafell Pike, Snowdon, and Ben Nevis.
Why Spinal Research?
On April 24th 2020 Becca’s husband, Josh, lost his father to covid, a frontline NHS worker. And just 2 short days later, April 26th 2020, Josh was involved in an accident that tipped their whole world upside down. Given no time to grieve the loss of his father, he was now faced with a spinal cord injury, that completely changed the course of their lives forever. Their journey since that day has been unpredictable, scary, challenging and heartbreaking. Nothing can prepare you for paralysis and all the battles that come with it. It is certainly no easy ride, but they are navigating it together. Raising money for Spinal Research means so much to us.
Paralysis should not have to come with so many other unseen struggles and we hope that our donation will be a small help into aiding the future outlook of this condition, and many others.
Spinal Research is the UK's leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal injury. Their research into spinal cord injury repair and recovery, not only supports paralysis, but other conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, cervical spondylitis myelopathy, dementia and Parkinson's.
There are currently around 50,000 people in the UK and Ireland living with paralysis due to injury of the spinal cord. Charities such as Spinal Research give people experiencing such life altering injuries hope for a better and brighter future. We hope to raise more awareness of the importance of spinal injury research and how their scientific breakthroughs can change the lives of so many individuals suffering with debilitating conditions, as well as their close family and friends.
Any support or donation you can offer for this amazing cause will be truly appreciated by so many. Thank you. 😊
