We know two young girls whose lives have been massively impacted by ME and POTS and are aware that this affects so many more young people across the UK. There is a great need to raise awareness and to raise money for research into these two debilitating diseases to improve the lives of all sufferers.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), also known as postural tachycardia syndrome, is a blood circulation disorder that causes a rapid increase in heart rate when standing up from a sitting or lying position. This increase is at least 30 beats per minute in adults and 40 beats per minute in adolescents within the first 10 minutes of standing. POTS is caused by problems with the autonomic nervous system, which controls automatic body functions like heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. Symptoms can include dizziness, weakness, fatigue, and fainting, and can range from mild to disabling.

POTS can affect people of any age, but is more common in young adult and adolescent females. Some people may find that changes to their daily routine can help ease symptoms, while others may need medication.
