Story
I am very lucky to be running the London Marathon for the incredible charity Cure Parkinson's. I have finally plucked up the courage and am thrilled to be selected by such an extraordinary charity, which is working so hard to support research into helping those who suffer from the disease.
My beloved Grandfather who died in November 2022 had suffered from Parkinson's for over 35 years. He fought the debilitating condition with amazing fortitude, never letting the disease get on top of him. He painted, walked, fished and tried to pursue as an active life that the disease would allow him. However, I witnessed his decline over the last 20 years and fully understand what a challenging condition Parkinson's it is. I wish we could find a cure that would have allowed him to live an even fuller life.
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. The underlying symptoms of Parkinson’s are treated with a range of medication, but currently none of these slow, stop or reverse the progression of the disease. Around 145,000 people in the UK alone are living with Parkinson’s and this is expected to increase by approximately 18% by the year 2025 and is set to almost double by 2065.
I can't thank you enough for supporting Cure Parkinson's.
