Story
2 besties. 5 days. 250km. 6,900m elevation. Raising money for bigmoose mental health charity.
Thank you so much for visiting our fundraising page, we are both SO grateful for your support.
From 24th-28th September 2024, we will be embarking on a multi-day ultramarathon in Pembrokeshire, Wales. During this time, we will be running 250km and enduring 6,900m of elevation along the Welsh coastal path, equivalent to 6 marathons in 5 days and climbing Ben Nevis 5 times.
We will joined by fellow runners from the incredible initative Why We Run https://itswhywerun.com/ to raise vital funds for the charity bigmoose.
A bit about us...
Best friends since the age of 11, we have been so lucky to share some incredible moments together all over the globe. With a shared passion for running on entering our thirties, we are really excited to embark on this new ultrarunning adventure and cross the line as a team. However, having both been road runners all our lives with no experience in trails, and our longest ever run being a 42km marathon...this will certainly be our biggest challenge both physically and mentally to date.
A bit about our why...
As I am sure you already know, we are both hugely passionate about mental health and people never feeling alone. We have both been able to access support in the past at a time in our lives when we needed it, but not everyone is as lucky. Men's mental health in particular is something that is personally important to us and very close to our hearts. Running brings us both so much joy and happiness, as well as a forum where we have connected with such incredible people. Being able to raise donations and bring this joy and happiness to others, changing their lives through therapy, would be an achievement like no other.
A bit about how your donation will help...
bigmoose is a charity on a mission to support people by providing therapy for anyone, no matter who you are or where you are. Across the UK, the availability of therapy for mental health patients can be hugely variable, with many waiting months to start. This is contributing to a rise in suicide rates, as often when people need help, they need it quickly. At bigmoose, patients are seen within a week, and on average need 4 weeks of therapy. There are no tick boxes or criteria to be able to access therapy with bigmoose. Just a £25 donation guarantees an initial call with a therapist, and £100 will fund a life changing therapy session. Any donation big or small will help bigmoose achieve their target of raising 15 million pounds target for mental health, as well as help us get over the finish line knowing how many lives we will be saving together.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, love Bea and Em xxx
