Story

This year BCS Sixth Formers and staff are taking part in the 6k obstacle course - the Dorset Mud Run. https://www.thedorsetmudrun.co.uk/

Our Sixth Formers have chosen to raise money for The Elizabeth Foundation which is small charity based in Hampshire - https://elizabeth-foundation.org/

The Elizabeth Foundation helps babies and children with all degrees of deafness learn to listen through their hearing technologies and to talk clearly and confidently. They also provide emotional, educational and practical support to families.

Our Sixth Formers chose to raise money for the foundation after hearing its personal significance for one of our Sixth Form tutors, Mr Kirk.

"The Elizabeth Foundation provided screening service that diagnosed my son's deafness on the day he was born. By 6 weeks old he had hearing aids in. From 1 year old, he had intensive speech and language input from his nursery key worker who was trained by the Elizabeth Foundation. As such, he has never been behind with his speech and language development. He started school on the same level as everyone else. Those first years are most important and the Foundation focuses on helping families navigate them as successfully as possible."
