In response to the devastating earthquake in Morocco and flooding in Libya, BC will be raising money for emergency relief of two charities working on the ground - The British Red Cross and UNICEF.
On Friday 8th September, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco. The worst affected locations were the isolated mountain regions. 2,900 people have died with many more critically injured. Brighton College will be supporting local authorities who are helping on the ground to support authorities with search and rescue, provisions of food, water, shelter and transportation to hospital.
Two days later, Storm Daniel made landfall in Libya causing severe weather conditions, including strong winds and sudden heavy rainfall affecting several areas in the country. Two dams burst, causing catastrophic damage and killing thousands. 300,000 children have been affected and are facing yet another tragedy after a decade of conflict. Brighton College will be supporting UNICEF who are responding to the disaster by providing medical supplies, hygiene kits and clothes.
