Story
Refugee Education UK (REUK) is a charity which enables young refugees to thrive in education. They support young refugees from across the world in so many ways: by training and matching them with volunteer mentors, by giving advice and guidance for accessing and progressing in education, delivering 1:1 intensive wellbeing support to young refugees with acute mental health and wellbeing needs, and running leadership and advocacy courses which embolden and empower future refugee leaders. They also conduct research and training on everything refugee education.
REUK equips young refugees and asylum seekers across the UK to build positive futures by thriving in education. For each one of these young people, REUK provides information, guidance and support which enables them to overcome significant barriers to accessing and thriving in education and equips them to use their education to create meaningful futures in leadership and employment.
We have nearly finished transforming a disused high street bank in Harlesden into The Lighthouse: a refugee education centre and community which will be a safe and welcoming space for young refugees in London and a permanent home for REUK's work with young refugees across the UK.
As our significant refurbishment project comes to an end, we're seeking to raise a final £5k to transform the Lighthouse into a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming place for young refugees. Your support will enable us to purchase high quality and durable furniture and supplies - from lamps to homework tables, chairs to homework club materials - which will fit the space and serve all building-users well.
Please consider supporting the cause and helping to build more hopeful futures for young refugees in the UK.
