Story
Thanks for visiting the Barts Bone & Joint Health JustGiving page.
At Barts Bone & Joint Health we’re dedicated to bringing brilliant ideas, ground-breaking research and transformational care to life, for people with Bone & Joint disorders and injuries.
Our clinical team treat patients from all over East London and beyond – we treat conditions such as arthritis; we fix major bone breaks after trauma, and we provide rehabilitation to enable people to return to their lives pre-injury.
And our clinical research team work with teams around the world to find answers to the big questions in bone & joint health and this collaboration drives life-changing improvements for our local community.
Our clinicians are passionate about educating the clinicians and clinical academics of the future. We have a training programme in place and we are always seeking opportunities to further develop the team.
Karen was admitted to the Royal London Hospital in May 2022 after a life changing cycling collision in London. Karen suffered extensive injuries to her legs with amputation being a very likely outcome. Our limb reconstruction team worked through all the options with Karen and together they decided to proceed with reconstructive surgery. This included fixing the broken bones with a frame, multiple skin and muscle grafts and extensive rehabilitation. Karen has worked incredibly hard with the team and is now back to cycling and kayaking, and that she was very much part of the clinical team in decision making who are, ‘passionate about what they do’.
Our limb reconstruction team are now working with scientists from across the University to develop innovative treatments for patients who suffer these extensive bone breaks as a result of trauma.
Helping people like Karen is what we do every day, but your support will help us do so much more from funding innovations in bone and joint care, to pioneering research or even just the little extras that improve patient wellbeing.
Thank you.
