Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

"Having been involved in Bootle for over 10 years, I know the great work that Ykids do. However, they took it to a new level when they opened Kingsley and Co. I've been lucky enough to see community groups across the UK, and without a doubt, Kingsley is the most magical and inspiring place I have seen"

Due to the redevelopment of the Strand Shopping Centre, Kingsley & Co have had to relocate to an alternative location - and we need YOUR help to refurbish and open again! Please support us so we can continue to improve outcomes for deprived children.

Addressing the low rates of literacy in Bootle the project seeks to engage children and their families in a love of all things story, promoting literacy through creativity, storytelling, reading and writing, and thus improve wellbeing, literacy and life long outcomes for children across Merseyside.

Finding a place that two children with a huge age gap to enjoy is difficult, but we had that place in Kingsley. A place that felt like coming home to family. They helped me through some really rough times, more so than they probably even know - Parent

"Children's literacy will massively determine their life outcomes, and helping Kingsley open up in their new location by raising some money was a challenge I wanted to take up.

I have very fond memories of reading my kids the Mr Gum books, and Backstory Books in Balham have been kind enough to support my cycle with a copy of Mr Gum and by publicising my ride.

Riding from Balham to Bootle is a challenge for a 53 year old, but its worth it to raise money and the profile of this great charity"
