Bridge to Bridge 4 Charity Cycle Ride of 250 miles, 14 September 2023
We fund research into spinal cord injury to find a cure for spinal injury paralysis

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our involvement with the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation ("nsif") began as a result of our eldest son contracting a virus on his spine which caused paralysis from the chest down. This was in the summer of 2007 and despite the doctors' assertion that he would never walk again, by showing absolute commitment to a rehabilitation and physiotherapy programme, his determination has seen him improve to the extent that he is now able to walk with sticks.

His efforts have proved to be an inspiration and our focus in undertaking this cycle challenge is to raise funds for and awareness of the ground-breaking research work into a cure for spinal cord injury being supported financially by the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, with the belief that a cure is now in reach.

Bridge to Bridge 4 ("B2B4") is our cycle challenge for 2023, marking the 10th Anniversary of the original BTB cycle challenge.

Our group for this challenge consists of eight riders together with our two-man support team. We are delighted that Mike Beckett, Andrew Cooney, Ronnie Fletcher, Mark Hague, Richard Hardy, Bobby Pye, John Pye and Grant Stables will be donning the lycra whilst being very capably supported by "Driver Dave" Waters and Steve Pye. Please see "Gallery" for team member photos.

We will set off by minibus on Thursday 14th September to our "start point" at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll......gogogoch on Anglesey.

Day 1 (Friday 15th) of the ride will take us from the Bridge over the Menai Straits on a gruelling 120 mile route to Bollington, near Macclesfield, for our first overnight stop. The following day will be a relatively short, but very challenging ride of 60 miles over the Pennines for our next overnight stay in Dodworth, near Barnsley. Sunday 17th is our final day in the saddle and will see us complete the route with a 70 mile ride - with a stop for photos at the Humber Bridge - back to a mid-afternoon homecoming reception at Beech Tree, Kirkella.
