Story
On 21 April, 2024, I am running the London Marathon (my first ever marathon!) in memory of my mother-in-law, Jane Chalk.
In 2015 Jane was diagnosed with a very rare form of Lymphoma and I witnessed firsthand how Lymphoma Action was able to be a massive support to Jane, my wife, Susie, and her family during such an incredibly difficult time.
Sadly, in 2018, we lost Jane to this horrible cancer which affects and changes so many people's lives. I was lucky enough to have gotten to know Jane over 6 wonderful but short years and many will know her as an intelligent, witty and beautiful person who was adored by all.
Jane's strength and courage she showed throughout is something I will forever be in awe of and I hope I can demonstrate even a fraction of that in my lifetime. Jane often spoke about the importance of resilience and I'll definitely need to remind myself of this during the marathon.
Over the years Jane's family and Susie have raised money to support the great work Lymphoma Action does and I now hope to follow in their footsteps in raising money for this wonderful charity to continue to help and support others affected by Lymphoma.
Lymphoma Action is the UK's only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the 5th most common cancer. They’ve been providing trusted information and support for over 35 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma.
Lymphoma Action's mission is to make sure no one faces lymphoma alone.
I would be extremely grateful for any donations to this cause you feel you can give and hope I can do you proud on Marathon day!
