Story
Uncle Martin
Right until the end, uncle Martin always had a great sense of humour. Through his life, he was supportive to so many, and always had time for others and their causes. He was a family man, businessman, and friend to so many. He was larger than life!!
In February, Uncle Martin passed away in his home on Canvey Island. His balcony view across the Thames was always one of his favourite places.
In Martin’s memory, we're teaming up for a big adventure through the peaks. (A Yzee Walk, the Yzee way.)
What on earth are we doing?
We (Leoni, Bobby and Nigel) are embarking on a VERY LONG walk across the peak district. 52km for Leoni and Bob, and 100km(!) for veteran walker Nige. In a single day, non-stop.
The route will take us out from Bakewell, up and down many, many hills in the Derbyshire countryside.
We’ll also be joined by some FANTASTIC friends who have leapt at the opportunity / reluctantly accepted the challenge (delete as appropriate).
Pictured: The last time we did any form of physical activity together. 7 years ago. (Bikes not included this time.)
The cause
Uncle Martin sadly died from cancer this February. 2024 also marks 20 long years since our mum Alwen passed away under very similar circumstances.
So for uncle Martin and mum, we’re raising money for Macmillian - who provide vital support for those dealing with cancer. You’ve probably heard of their great work already, but if you'd like to read more about what they do - you can do so on their website.
