Story
Hi! I’m Ava and in August 2024 I will be taking on Mount Kilimanjaro- the biggest challenge I have ever faced but something I am truly dedicated to completing! I’m doing this in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation- an organisation that funds vital medical research in working towards their vision of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia by 2030.
As well as research, MRF also promote education and awareness to reduce death and disability as a result of the disease, striving to best support people affected. Meningitis is a disease passed by something as simple and as common bacteria, with young children being most at risk, and it brutally affects a person’s brain and spinal cord. Because of this, even those that survive it are left with serious long-term disabilities such as hearing-loss and brain damage.
The money I raise from this challenge will all go towards helping Meningitis Research Foundation in making a meningitis-free world a reality, supporting them in funding research to improve survival rates and outcomes, as well as the development of treatment and care for those affected both directly and indirectly by the disease.
Please join me in making a difference to patients and families impacted by the cruelty of meningitis, and working towards a better future for its survivors. Any contributions will mean so much, thank you! :)
