Story

**Join me on this incredible journey to raise funds in aid of the Prospect Hospice and honour the memory of a friend Judith Hall – a passionate hiker who continues to inspire me.**

Hello everyone,

My name is Aurélie and I am embarking on an extraordinary adventure from 16th to 20th March 2024 – a 3-day trek through the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland, all in aid of the Prospect Hospice, near Swindon.

This remarkable hospice provides invaluable care and support to patients and their families during their most challenging times. I am honoured to be trekking in memory of a friend, Judith Hall, a keen hiker who touched the lives of many and is greatly missed. Her husband, my friend Richard, has been incredibly supportive during my previous fundraising events, including the Walk across Wiltshire in 2022.

Why Prospect Hospice?

In 2022, I walked across Wiltshire & Swindon to raise funds for the Prospect Hospice, and I am proud to say that we reached our goal, thanks to the incredible support of friends, family, and the community. This time, I am taking it a step further with the Prospect Hospice Iceland trek, as the hospice continues to rely on our generosity to deliver their outstanding services. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

The Trek:

Organised by the Prospect Hospice, this 3-day trek through Iceland promises to be both challenging and rewarding. We will hike along the fault line that divides America and Europe; we will traverse through stunning landscapes, witnessing bubbling mud pools and hot springs, and discover the peaks of Mount Hengill heritage site, all while raising vital funds for the hospice.

Training and Challenges:

In preparation for the Iceland trek, I will be taking part in several challenges between now and March 2024. The first of these significant challenges includes walking solo, backpacking without support, along Hadrian's Wall Path, which is a National Trail, 84 miles (135 km) long.

I will add other challenges, but there may well be my first 5K and 10K races in about a decade, and walking the length of the Ridgeway National Trail, too…

These events not only serve as training but also act as a testament to the dedication and passion that Judith had for hiking.

Fundraising Target:

My fundraising target for this trek is £2,990. Of this amount, £1,495 covers the cost of the trip, which I will personally donate over the next year. This means that every penny you generously contribute goes directly towards supporting the Prospect Hospice and their life-changing work.

How You Can Help:

- Donate: Any amount, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will bring us closer to our target. Please click the "Donate Now" button to make a secure online donation.

- Share: Help spread the word about this fundraising initiative by sharing this page with your friends, family, and colleagues on social media, email, or word of mouth.

- Encourage: Offer words of support and encouragement as I take on this challenge in Judith's memory and train for the event through various activities.

Thank You!

I am deeply grateful for your support, kindness, and generosity. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those in need at the Prospect Hospice. Let's honour the memory of Judith and make her proud!

With heartfelt gratitude,

Aurélie
