Story
If you are anything like me, you make a set of goals or resolutions each year. Each year I choose at least one goal that doesn't just benefit myself or my family. Last year I started volunteering my time with a great organization, Reading Partners, which works with NYC public schools, helping students who have fallen below their reading grade levels. This year I have decided to train for and run a marathon. I am connecting my health goals with my volunteer goals. I have struggled for years with Fibromyalgia, a disorder characterized by continuous widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by chronic fatigue, sleep, mood and memory issues. I know how hard it is to struggle day in and day out with a medical issue that many may never understand. I also know what it is to have a family member who is blind. My grandmother started to lose her sight in her early 50's and was completely blind by the time she turned 60. This had an effect on our entire family causing a change in all of our lives.
Communication is something many of us take for granted, but for those with deafblindness or complex disabilities, it can be a daily struggle. That's why I'm asking for your help in raising funds for this incredible organization. Together WE can unlock barriers to communication so no one is left out or unable to fulfill their potential.
My goal is to raise $2,500 for Team Sense TCS 2024 London Marathon. Every donation counts and will go directly towards supporting individuals with sensory impairments and complex needs.
Thank you for considering supporting this important cause and helping me reach my fundraising goal!
