Story
Want to join me in supporting an amazing cause?
This September I’m running a total of 150km in just 21 days to raise money for Shout’s life-saving mental health text support service.
I am not a natural runner, I have veryyy heavy legs and find it SO difficult and that's exactly why it's gonna be a challenge. The last time I actually ran more than 5km in one go was back in November 2021, where I JUST about managed 150km in 30 days... this time I want to set myself an even bigger challenge to run the same distance in just 21 days starting on 1st September.
Why 21 days? 21 days is significant for me & my own mental health as 3 weeks is the average length of time for my overall mood and mindset to swing from high focused and energised to low, dark and on some days extremely challenging.
The Shout text service has helped me cope during times where I've struggled to make sense of my own thoughts and feelings, when I didn't want to worry those closest to me. I will be forever grateful to the volunteers and for the people who donate and fundraise to make the service possible. Their volunteers really do save lives. It might not seem like much but having a real person there at the end of a text to listen when your mind has convinced you to give up is invaluable and deserves to be supported.
Whether you donate £10 or £100, every penny makes a real difference to people in mental health crisis. 🖤
Shout is the UK's only free, confidential and 24/7 text messaging service for anyone struggling to cope with their mental health. Every 60 seconds, someone reaches out for support and has a conversation that could save their life.
£10 can pay for a conversation with someone in crisis
£25 can fund a clinician to provide expert supervision of conversations on Shout's digital mental health platform.
£250 can train a new Shout Volunteer to take life-saving conversations.
