Story
We were looking for a practical and tangible way to help a charity that all our students could get behind. When we heard about Guide Dogs’ Name a Puppy initiative we just had to take part. It’s exciting to know that our fundraising will help change someone’s life.
Naming a Puppy is a really special thing to do and we are absolutely delighted that Ashville College in Harrogate has chosen to support Guide Dogs.
We have pledged to raise £2500 to help people living with sight loss become mobile and independent.
It costs over £55,000 to support each guide dog partnership from the birth of the puppy through its to retirement. Guide Dogs rely on donations from the local community, to be able to provide their life-changing services to people living with sight loss in our community.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives.
Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
