Story
“Dad, Sean Waldron, loved the Yorkshire Dales, with a caravan near Pateley Bridge, he and Mum were always exploring the local(ish) countryside towns and villages.
Dad was diagnosed with Cancer in 2020 and went through Chemotherapy in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. He fought and won his first battle but unfortunately the dreaded C returned and Dad couldn’t fight it off. Dad died in August 2022 from Bowel Cancer.
We always spoke about completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks together, so I’ve gathered a group of close friends and family to walk the trek in Dad’s name.
The peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are known collectively as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. They are often walked as a circular route taking in all three mountains in one day. The route is 24 miles (38.6km) long and involves 5000 ft (1600 metres) of vertical ascent.
On 19th September we will walk the Three Peaks in memory of Dad and aim to raise as much money as we can for Bowel Babe.
Bowel Babe was set up to continue the legacy of Dame Deborah James. The charity raises money for Cancer Research, Bowel Cancer UK and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. We are asking for donations, however large or small, to keep the research into this horrible disease going.” - Liam
