Since 1998, a group of friends, community members, and determined individuals have gathered to honor Chris Hooyman’s legacy by embarking on an adventure of a lifetime together, summiting the iconic Mount Rainier.

Story

This Summer, I am summitting Mount Rainier in an effort to fundraise for YMCA of Greater Seattle - Every summer, youth have an opportunity to experience the outdoors in new ways at the YMCA, whether it is through day camp, overnight camp, or our Bold Gold backcountry and backpacking trips. The outdoors provide incredible growth opportunities for students and providing opportunities for students is becoming more and more important each year. Our YMCA programs promote leadership development, challenge by choice, and a growth in confidence for students, which helps them to grow into successful leaders in our community.

I am working to raise $4000 in order to provide scholarships for students who would not otherwise be able to participate in these opportunities, allowing the YMCA to provide a more equitable experience for students in the outdoors.

Honor The Legacy. Climb for a cause.

This intrepid five-day climb is an incredible feat that honors the legacy and memory of Chris Hooyman and his lifelong passion for providing youth outdoor education. We invite you to make a donation for our 2024 Chris Hooyman Memorial Climb, which will support the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s BOLD & GOLD program.
